How the Dog Fences Works?

The fence has an electric wire fitted with a transmitter and installed underground all around the borders of your acreage or Three Hills AB property. This fence system works by giving out a beeping signal which is received by your dog’s radio collar, each time it (the dog) gets too close to the fence. If your dog continues to ignore the signals, a mild static shock is delivered via its collar to stop it from crossing the fence. However, the shock frequency can be adjusted to limit fear or harm to your dog.

Are Electronic Dog Fences Legal in Three Hills AB?

Radio Dog Fence

Many pet owners have a problem when it comes to keeping their dog's within a safe area. Anything can happen to a dog that runs off into the street. It can be attacked by other dogs in the area or it can get run over by a passing car. Sadly, some cities and neighborhoods don't make it easy for dog owners to keep their pet safe. Although the more practical option is to erect a fence around one's property, some neighborhoods prohibit the construction of such barriers in order to preserve the aesthetics of the community. For this reason, dog owners have been looking into putting up wireless dog fences.

But the question that is foremost in their minds is "Do wireless dog fences really work?"

According to experts, the wireless dog fence is a type of static simulation training. You create the boundaries for the safe zone for your dog by tweaking the base station unit that you will install inside your home. Once you have the base station set up, put the receiving electronic collar around the dog's neck, making sure that the prongs touch the skin lightly. Whenever your dog goes close to the boundary, the base station unit detects it and sends off a signal which will cause the collar to beep in warning. If the dog persists in moving closer to the limit, it is given a mild electric shock. The shock is similar to that when you put your hands on the screen of a TV set that is switched on or when you rub your socks on a carpet and then hold on to something made out of metal. While many animal activists protest that delivering a shock to your pet is inhumane, manufacturers claim that it does not harm the dog in anyway.

For the wireless dog fence to work optimally, you need to train the dog so that it will take the warning beeps and the shocks as a clear sign that it should not cross the boundary. Training should be hands-on so that your dog will not associate the shocks to incidental situations, such as a person passing by or there is another dog or animal outside the boundary. Some pets may think that the person or the animal may be the cause of the shocks and will act with aggression. You also need to adjust the corrective shocks. Some dogs may have a high tolerance to pain, so that the shock may be too mild to make an impact. Others have a low tolerance to pain, and they may not even want to leave the house at all because they were traumatized by the shock.

While wireless dog fences do work, you need to tweak your system in order to get the best protection and responses from your pet.

Electric Dog Fences, Cheaper Way to Contain Your Dog

Wire Dog Fence

Your pet may need a safe place to play and run. You may not have the money for expensive fencing. You might consider an electronic dog fence system for your home. It will contain and protect pets. Here are good reasons to purchase one of these systems.

Operation

These systems are not complicated. They have three main components. They are transmitter, wires, and receiver. The transmitter can be kept in your garage or basement. You may also place them on a covered patio or deck. The transmitter sends a signal to wires in your yard. These wires can be above ground. They can also be underground.

The pet's collar contains the receiver. When the collar passes over the wires, it will receive a signal from the transmitter. This signal will be in several levels of intensity. The first level might be a simple tone. In some cases, this may work. However, the other signals will contain an electronic pulse. The higher the level, the stronger the pulse.

These electronic pulses do not harm the pet. It is a humane training method. The animals learns to avoid the pulses. It will stay in areas where there is no pulse. Areas with pulses will be left alone.

Off limits

Customize the areas you want your pet to avoid. Keep you animal on its own property. Make sure that other area are left alone too. For example, you may wish to protect you swimming pool area. Place wires around flower beds and gardens. Place them around trees and plants, too. These areas will stay safe.

Training does not take too long. A few days is usually all that is required. Installation is not difficult or lengthy. You will get detailed instructions for proper installation. Are you training more than one pet? Purchase extra collars. It is that simple.

You will train your pets to be secure and safe. They will not escape and venture out into traffic. Many dangers await them in the neighborhood. They may get into trash or other toxic material. They may become injured in many other ways, too.

Final thoughts

You may wish to give your pet a safe and secure play area. You may want your watchdog to patrol the edges of your property. You can dictate where your animals roam. They will stay on your property with an electronic dog fence. Customize your off limit areas, too. Protect flower beds and gardens. Keep plants and trees safe, also. These systems are not costly. They are not hard to install, either. Pets usually learn from them in a few days time.
