One of the most popular options available today is the “radio electric” dog fence. The invisible dog fence involves the use of two main components – a transmitter and a receiver (radio collar).

How the Dog Fences Works?
The fence has an electric wire fitted with a transmitter and installed underground all around the borders of your acreage or Yorkton SK property. This fence system works by giving out a beeping signal which is received by your dog’s radio collar, each time it (the dog) gets too close to the fence. If your dog continues to ignore the signals, a mild static shock is delivered via its collar to stop it from crossing the fence. However, the shock frequency can be adjusted to limit fear or harm to your dog.
Are Electronic Dog Fences Legal in Yorkton SK?
I have found there are many reasons a invisible underground dog fence collar will activate in an area that it should not. The most common is a stray signal off of a cable TV line. This happens when the underground fence boundary wire piggy backs or runs on top of the cable TV line for a long distance.
There are different ways to fix this. The first thing I would look at is how large the fence signal field is, if it is larger than six feet (in other words the dog fence receiver activates six feet from the underground wire)and your pet does not test the fence there is probably room to turn the signal field down a little and that will fix the stray signal in most cases.
In a more severe case adjusting the field wont work. I would try removing the ground from the dog fence. If this solves the problem then the problem is in the common ground between the dog fence and the cable TV. To resolve this you simply need a new ground location for the dog fence. The easy thing to do is install a small ground rod outside the garage and attach the dog fence ground to the rod. You need to have a ground for the underground invisible dog fence if not your warranty will be void.
If removing the ground from the dog fence transmitter did not solve the problem try and remove the cable TV ground normally located outside near the electric meter. If this solves the problem what needs to be done is the cable TV needs to be re grounded where it comes into the house at the ground block. The ground block is attached to the house where the outdoor underground cable TV line meets the inside feed to the house and attached is a ground wire that runs to the electric meter or shares the same ground rod as the the electric meter. You must have a cable TV ground it is what protects your home from lightning damage or fire. I recommend to have the cable company do this or a licenced electrician.
If this does not solve your stray signal problem it is possible that it could be something setting off a signal similar to your underground invisible dog fence. It could be a cordless phone or another type of wireless device, take a walk around the house with the dog fence collar and hold it up to anything you may think could cause the problem and move it to another location. The invisible brand fence company has a wireless transmitter called the invisible mask. This will solve your dog fence stray signal problem as well. Most underground pet fencing has a 7K signal or a 10K signal the mask has a switch setting for both. If you have Pet Safe, Innotek, or Radio Fence it is most likely to be 10K any other brand probably 7K. The mask is designed to work with the invisible brand but I have seen it work with most other brands. The only one I have found it not to work with is Dog Watch brand dog fencing. Benefits of Using an Invisible Dog Fence
Underground dog fences are invisible, making them effective at keeping your dogs in the yard, away from the garden and out of harms way. There are a variety of underground dog fences available for those in the market for one.
The main function of the underground fences are to keep the dogs within their boundaries. This is done by attaching an electrical collar to the dog. To deter your dog from the leaving the protected area, a shock is triggered upon your dog's approach, when he is too close.
However, for some breeds, it might not work. For example, on dogs that have long and thick hair, the electric shock will not affect them. You will need to shave the hair around their neck for the collar to be effective.
Dewalp, or dogs with loose folds of skin, are another breed of dog that the underground fence will not work on. For this reason, before buying the invisible dog fence system, check your breed to make sure that it will work first.
Consider the "ping-string" if you have a garden out back. These underground fences don't require the dog to wear any type of collar. As the dog approaches within range of the fences, a low frequency sound will be emitted and force the dog to back away.
This sound emitted will be too low for the average human to hear. This type of fence will keep your garden and other places in your yard safe from the dogs.
To protect your dogs from wandering away from the yard, you will need to install the underground dog fence system. The underground dog fence can be found by companies throughout the pet industry.
The underground dog fence system will usually require wires to be run under the ground to a specific point in the yard. There should be at least four points on the yard, like the shape of a box, but without the sides. Along with this system, an electrical collar will be worn by the dogs and it will shock them as they are within range of the underground dog fences.
Make sure to see that it fits your dog and the electrical shock is not too much before letting them free. Also, like any technology, old or new, there will always be some flaws with them. To prevent any mishap, only let them in the yard when you or someone else can watch them.
When it comes to the safety of your dogs, the underground dog fences are a great piece of equipment. This system is not only for one dog, it's also designed to work on several dogs. The main component to get would just be the collar. For the safety of your dogs and peace of mind for you, underground fences are definitely a great investment.
