How the Dog Fences Works?

The fence has an electric wire fitted with a transmitter and installed underground all around the borders of your acreage or Priddis AB Acreages Near Calgary property. This fence system works by giving out a beeping signal which is received by your dog’s radio collar, each time it (the dog) gets too close to the fence. If your dog continues to ignore the signals, a mild static shock is delivered via its collar to stop it from crossing the fence. However, the shock frequency can be adjusted to limit fear or harm to your dog.

Small Fence For Dogs

Do you want to keep your dog in your yard without a fence? Does your dog have a problem with digging under your current fence? Do you take your dog with you on hunting or camping trips? Are you interested in an underground dog fence but don't want the hassle of burying the wire? Do you have certain areas in your home which you would like to be off limits to your dog?  If your answer to any of these questions is "yes," you may want to consider the advantages of a wireless dog fence.

Wireless dog fence is a new and popular product in today's electronic world. Purchasing a wireless dog fence is a good option for budget conscious dog owners who need an effective solution to a nearly universal dog owner problem. It will give your dog plenty of freedom to run and play, while at the same time keeping him safe, secure, and well behaved. A wireless dog fence is safe, affordable, and easy to install. It is much cheaper than building a fence, and does not obstruct your view or give your yard an unsightly appearance like a traditional fence can. Wireless dog fences are also available for use inside the home as well as outside, giving you the ability to allow your dog some freedom inside your home while still controlling his boundaries. Unlike other fences, wireless dog fences are portable. This makes them wonderful for use while traveling, and are especially useful and popular for hunting and camping trips. Lastly, if you already have a fence and your dog is an escape artist, a wireless dog fence can help solve this frustrating problem. With training, your dog will learn that the fence boundary itself is to be respected because the wireless dog fence can be set up within it.

When choosing a wireless dog fence for your dog, keep in mind a few important details. We always recommend that you purchase your system from a reputable manufacturer with a good warranty, for peace of mind right from the start. Examples include Petsafe, Innotek, and Perimeter. Make sure that the system you choose is suitable for the weight of your particular dog. Also, you may want to consider purchasing an additional transmitter which can be used to enlarge the area. A wireless dog fence may not be the right choice for you if your yard is sloped. And you should definitely choose a model that has adjustable correction levels, so that you can personalize the training program for your particular dog.

Once you have purchased and have your wireless dog fence in hand, it should only take a few minutes to install using the instruction manual which will be included. You will place the transmitter either within your home, or possibly in your garage. The transmitter does need to be kept out of the rain. You can then place the wireless dog fence collar on your dog and begin training him; do not neglect this essential part of the process.

Training your dog to respect the boundaries of your new wireless dog fence usually takes a few weeks, but the time period greatly depends on each individual dog. Persistence and consistency in training will pay off. You should always supervise your dog for the initial period after the installation of your wireless dog fence. You can also place flags to mark the boundaries and use them to show your dog where he is allowed to be. Keep him on a leash at first, and set the correction level on his collar to the minimal level. Then follow him on the leash, allowing him to explore until he reaches the boundary and receives a mild shock. This shock is very humane and is not designed to harm your dog, but just to get his attention. It is similar to the shock you receive from the carpet when you rub your feet on it. Once your dog receives the correction, pull him back from the boundary and praise him. You can also give treats at first to reinforce your training. Your dog may learn to respect the boundary within one or two times, or it may take a bit longer for him to understand. He will eventually learn, however, and then you will be able to remove the leash. Continue supervising him without the leash for awhile, until you feel very confident in observing him respecting the boundaries of the fence at all times. The method for training a dog to an indoor wireless dog fence is very similar.

A wireless dog fence is an exciting new product in today's modern society, and is worth considering by dog owners as an affordable and effective option. While there is possibly no perfect solution to keeping our dogs safe and contained, today's inventions such as the wireless dog fence keep coming closer with each generation.

Why Choose Wireless Dog Fences Over Other Solutions?

My "How to Train Your Dog on an Electronic Dog Fence" OVERVIEW article. I would like to make sure that people are using their fence to its fullest potential, which is why I would like to shed some light on how to train your pet effectively. Generally, when people are in the market for an electronic dog fence, they aren't quite sure what needs to be done to train their canine to use their fence and often worry about their new fence working the way it should. On the flip-side, there are also many people who have an in-ground fence but claim that it "didn't work". If you were to ask these people how they trained their pet, you would find that most of the owners did not train their it properly. So, for all of you future electronic dog fence owners or new owners looking for guidance, read on to learn how you can enjoy a happy pet by following simple but important training steps.

Training your canine to use an in-ground fence system can be broken down into four easy steps: Introduction to the fence, introduction to the correction, introduction to distractions, and supervision. First and foremost you will want to introduce your dog to the fence. This usually takes about one week and it is imperative that your pet is taught that when their collar is beeping, they need to retreat back into your yard. The way you do this is by simply letting them walk the perimeter of your fence and pull them back into the safety one when the warning beep is heard.

Once your dog has been introduced to their in-ground fence, you need to introduce your dog to the correction. This step should also take about a week and will be demanding on the pet owner. Many people find it difficult at first to let their dog be corrected by the fence but this is for them to learn their new found boundaries. Simply walk your dog around the perimeter again except instead of bringing them into the safety zone after the warning beep, you will now wait until your pet is corrected and then bring it back into its safety zone.

The third step of the training process is introducing your dog to distractions. This should be a relatively simple step and should only take about one day. You want to put distractions on the other side your fence that your dog may want. Try playing with a tennis ball and after a few minutes, toss it outside of the boundary of your yard. If your pet tries to retrieve the ball, you may have to return to step two. For more examples of how to use distractions to make sure your dog is trained properly, keep an eye out for the fourth installment of the "training your dog" series.

The last step of the training process is the supervision period that will last about a week. Your dog is finally trained for its new fence but I would recommend supervising them before you completely trust your dog in your yard alone. It is very important that they do not cross the boundary line for any reason during its supervisory period. Start by leaving your dog off the leash while you are watching them in the yard; then slowly start to watch them from a window while it is outside on its own for a few minutes and gradually increase the time your dog is alone outside.

Once your dog has completed the last step of the training process, you can rest easily knowing that they can be trusted outside by themselves. An important thing to remember is that if at any point your dog fails a step, go back to the previous and re-train your dog. If your pet is properly trained on its electronic dog fence, it can enjoy the benefits of being free in its own yard. Say "goodbye" to leashes, dog runs and cages with an underground fence and enjoy all of the perks of not having to be outside the whole time your dog is. I hope this brief overview helps decide to invest in an electronic dog fence or train your pet on an already installed fence.

Again, this is only a brief overview of the training process so stay tuned for more detailed instructions for every step and you will be on your way to a perfectly trained dog.
